‘Wall Street Journal’ to launch monthly glossy magazine

New York—Hoping to attract advertising dollars from luxury marketers, The Wall Street Journal Monday announced that in September 2008 it will launch Pursuits, a monthly glossy magazine focusing on the lifestyles of the rich. The magazine, which will be delivered to 800,000 subscribers of the Journal, will focus on wealth, fashion, collecting and travel, among other areas. The content of Pursuits will also be available for free on WSJ.com. “Pursuits will extend the Journal’s highly successful business of life franchise that began with the ‘Weekend Journal’ and ‘Personal Journal’ sections of the newspaper by offering unique access and insight through lifestyle reporting that only the Journal can provide,” said L. Gordon Crovitz, exec VP at Dow Jones & Co. and publisher of the Journal, in a news release.
