Webtrends buys app developer Transpond

Published on .

Portland, Ore.—Web analytics company Webtrends Inc. has acquired social and mobile application developer Transpond. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Transpond, based in San Francisco, provides solutions for nonprogrammers to create, publish and track communications across mobile and social sites. Webtrends said it will retain Transpond’s headquarters office and the eight employees who work there.

With Transpond’s app development capabilities, the deal is expected to help differentiate Webtrends from its major competitors, Adobe-owned Omniture and IBM Corp.’s Coremetrics. Transpond’s customers include CBS, NBC Universal and Universal Music Group.
