New York—Steve Weitzner has stepped aside as CEO of technology publisher CMP. Weitzner, who has been with CMP since 1984 and was named CEO in September 2005, will lead the company’s international business development. A search for his replacement is under way, and internal candidates will be considered, said David Levin, CEO of London-based United Business Media, CMP’s parent company. Levin added that in the interim he will serve as executive chairman of CMP. During Weitzner’s tenure as CEO, CMP was an active buyer of both niche Web sites and trade shows. He also shuttered several print publications, including Network Computing, Optimize and SysAdmin, and cut the circulation of EE Times to 100,000 from 150,000.
