Whitestone Communications: B-to-b media deals down 33% in second quarter

New York—The total number of b-to-b deals fell 33%, to 16 from 24, in the second quarter compared with the same period in 2006, according to a report from media investment bank Whitestone Communications. The value of b-to-b deals declined 28%, to $225 million from $310 million. The number of deals for trade magazines in the second quarter was flat (13) compared with the same period in 2006, while the value of the deals declined 25%, to $197 million from $261 million. The number of trade show deals dropped to 3 from 11, while the value was down 43%, to $28 million from $49 million Whitestone tracks M&A activity for its annual reference guide “Who’s Buying Whom.”
