WPA cancels media publishing conference

Los Angeles—Citing low registration, the Western Publications Association announced last week that it has canceled its media publishing conference, which was to be held April 23–24 in Los Angeles.

The event for publishers in the western U.S. has drawn 230 or more attendees when held annually in past years.

“It was an extremely difficult decision to make,” Jane Silbering, the WPA’s executive director, said in a statement. “We have a responsibility to our sponsors to deliver attendance worthy of their expectations and dollars spent and, to our speakers, to deliver an audience worthy of the time and effort spent in preparing their presentations.”

WPA said the 58th Annual Maggie Awards Banquet will still take place April 24 in Los Angeles.
