WPP Group to launch ad network in China

London—Big advertising and communications holding company WPP Group is forming a new China-based ad network in a joint venture between WPP's 24/7 Real Media, based in New York, and the Beijing office of OgilvyOne ITOP.

The new venture—to launch in January as ITOP 24/7—will be a Chinese online display and contextual advertising network. It will use Open AdStream ad management technology enhanced for the Chinese market.

OgilvyOne ITOP’s existing ad network in China covers such categories as IT, telecommunications, fashion and entertainment, and business and finance, and serves such clients in China as IBM, China Unicom and Microsoft.
