New York—The Wall Street Journal Digital Network has named Matt Goldberg to the newly created position of senior VP-digital strategy and operations.

Goldberg is responsible for the entire network, including general management, strategy and business development, finance, research and analytics, licensing, mobile, video and podcasting initiatives. He had been VP-franchise development and partnerships at the Dow Jones Consumer Media Group since 2006.

In other news, the network on Wednesday introduced a free, downloadable application for Windows Mobile phones that provides users with access to Barrons.com, MarketWatch.com and WSJ.com. The service was developed in partnership with Action Engine, which provides mobile technology.
