‘BusinessWeek’ to eliminate European and Asian editions

Published on .

New York—BusinessWeek confirmed Wednesday that is shutting down its European and Asian editions and replacing them with special European and Asian online editions.

BusinessWeek, which has published the editions since 1996, will cease publication of both on Dec. 30. The closings, first reported in The Wall Street Journal, will result in the layoff of about 60 people, mostly from international bureaus.

BusinessWeek will continue to distribute local language print editions though partnerships with local publishers in, among other countries, China, Poland, Russia and Turkey.
