London—The Financial Times has launched FT Alphaville, a microsite of aimed at finance executives working in hedge funds, private equity and investment banking.

Features of FT Alphaville include the "6am cut," a daily e-mail featuring key financial news items of the day, and a rolling financial blog offering real-time news, analysis and commentary written by Paul Murphy, an FT associate editor.

The name of the site is derived from "Alpha," meaning absolute returns, indicating an extra return on investment above and beyond industry benchmarks.
