Akron, Ohio—Plastics News, a Crain Communications Inc. publication, announced Monday that next month it will launch a weekly electronic newsletter aimed at the greater China region.

The free "Plastics News China eWeekly" newsletter will have an initial circulation of about 25,000. Plastics News gathered most of the names from Asian list sources.

The newsletter will be backed by a new Web site, www.plasticsnews.com/china. Both the newsletter and Web site will be in simplified Chinese and English.

Plastics News said it recently hired a Chinese national as a reporter in Akron and is adding news correspondents in Asia.

Husky Injection Molding Systems, Maguire Products and Progressive Components have signed on as charter advertisers for "Plastics News China eWeekly". Tony Eagan, publisher of Plastic News, said he hopes to attract local advertising as well.
