Yahoo! to buy Broadcast.com

Palo Alto, Calif. -- In a $5.7 billion deal that stands to thrust rich-media advertising front and center on the Internet, Yahoo! will acquire Broadcast.com, the Dallas-based company responsible for the Victoria's Secret Web fashion show. Industry observers say the deal strengthens Yahoo's already commanding position as Internet connections become faster and are better equipped to handle streaming audio and video.
