Sunnyvale, Calif.—Yahoo Mail users worldwide now have access to the latest version of the Web-based email client, with what the company is touting as faster speeds, better ad targeting and social media compatibility.
The enhanced version
of Yahoo Mail, in beta since October, will use keywords within email messages to better target interest-based ads across its entire ad network. This goes further than Google and AOL, which are serving such relevant ads only within their respective Web-mail applications.
In addition, Yahoo Mail's 284 million users will be able to view and share updates from Facebook, Twitter and social gaming company Zynga, and instantly reply to Facebook friends without leaving the Yahoo Mail inbox.
