Sunnyvale, Calif.—Yahoo and McAfee announced Tuesday that they have formed a multiyear global partnership designed to deliver a safer Web search experience through Yahoo Search.

Launched in beta, the new SearchScan feature offered by Yahoo Search and powered by McAfee SiteAdvisor technology, provides alerts to users concerning “risky” sites that pose security concerns, such as spyware, adware and other software that can infect and damage a user’s PC.

SearchScan also identifies sites that have shown bad e-mail practices, such as flooding user inboxes with spam.
