Yahoo! partners with Overture for paid search listings

Sunnyvale, Calif.--Yahoo! Inc. has partnered with Overture Services Inc., formerly GoTo.com, to provide paid search listings on the portal. The new ad program, called Yahoo! Sponsor Matches, lets businesses target audiences with pay-per-performance search results. Yahoo! previously had mostly free search listings. The deal is in effect until April 2000, at which time Yahoo! will evaluate distributing its own Sponsor Matches or renewing its contract with Overture, Pasadena, Calif.
