Yahoo reports modest revenue growth for the quarter

Sunnyvale, Calif.—Yahoo reported that revenue for the second quarter of its year totaled $1.60 billion, a 2% increase over the $1.57 billion logged in the same period last year. Thanks to improving margins, profits for the quarter were up sharply to $213.3 million, 51% higher than the $141.4 million in the same quarter in 2009.

The company said its display advertising revenue rose 19%, but that search advertising revenue decline 8% compared with the same period last year.
