Yahoo rolls out high-resolution-image ads

Published on .

Sunnyvale, Calif.—Yahoo Inc. has introduced a new ad unit featuring high-definition, full-page images intended to appear in context within image-rich online placements. The new Yahoo Image Ads units—image equivalents of text-based native ads—will appear within photo slide shows and other environments that are heavily oriented toward images, including omg, Yahoo Music, Yahoo Sports and Yahoo TV. Advertisers using the ads include Fiat, Relativity Media and Sony Corp., the company said in a statement. Image Ads will be sold on a performance, cost-per-click basis, and can be targeted based on gender, location and search habits, Yahoo said.
