Yahoo upgrades e-mail service

Sunnyvale, Calif.—Yahoo Monday announced a new version of Yahoo Mail that gives users three separate options to communicate with contacts. They are: sending messages through e-mail, online instant messaging and text messaging to mobile phone users. With the new format, users can send free text messages from Yahoo Mail to mobile numbers in the U.S., Canada, India and the Philippines. Yahoo will continue to offer its traditional Web mail.
