New York Times circulation surges

New York—The New York Times Co. reported sharply higher total average circulation for its flagship brand, including print and digital, for the six-month period ended Sept. 29. Circulation increased 18% year-over-year for Monday through Friday and 14% for Sunday, according to the latest Alliance for Audited Media report. For the same AAM reporting period, the New York Times' digital circulation was ahead of the prior year by 36% for Monday through Friday and 37% for Sunday, the company said in a statement. Print circulation, however, showed a decline during the six-month period ending Sept. 29. Monday through Friday circulation dropped 5.7%, while Sunday circulation slipped 2.1% when compared to the same period last year.
