New York Times Co. revenue up 0.5%

New York—New York Times Co. announced Thursday that its revenue increased 0.5% to $805.6 million in the first quarter, compared with $801.9 million in the year-earlier period. Net income totaled $111.0 million, up from $58.4 million.

The results included a one-time, after-tax gain of $67.8 million on the sale of the company’s current headquarters and other property.

The company said ad revenues at The New York Times and Boston Globe were essentially flat, while online ad revenue increased about 30% compared with the same period last year.
