The Chinese edition will be published monthly, with an initial circulation of 100,000. It will be distributed in about a dozen Chinese cities, including Beijing and Shanghai.
"The Chinese market is on a growth rate that is quickly making it the largest IT market in the world," said Gregory Barton, exec VP-licensing and legal affairs at Ziff Davis. "You need to be in China. You can't avoid it."
The joint venture will also develop related online properties and integrated marketing efforts, including offering live and online events.
