Ziff-Davis looks to sell market intelligence unit

New York -- Ziff-Davis has retained Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co. to explore the sale or merger of its ZD Market Intelligence unit. Founded in 1969, ZDMI, formerly called Computer Intelligence, is a leader in providing sales and marketing solutions to technology companies. ZDMI tracks computer and telecommunications technology installed and planned at more than 350,000 business sites around the world. The proprietary technology database of 1.7 million contacts comprises the medium-size to large enterprises that are doing two-thirds of today's information technology spending.
