Palin Delivers 37.2 Million Viewers

Falls 1.1 Million Viewers Short of Obama

By Published on .

According to Nielsen, Republican VP nominee Sarah Palin came close to hitting the viewership mark set by Barack Obama's speech last week. Her speech drew 37.2 million viewers, compared with Obama's 38.3 million. Nielsen points out that this was accomplished with four fewer networks broadcasting her speech. BET, TV One, Univision and Telemundo carried the Obama speech, but not Palin's. Despite no coverage from Univision and Telemundo, Nielsen says Day 3 for the GOP attracted more Hispanic viewers than Day 3 of the Democratic convention. ... Also of note, large swaths of folks down in the southerrn half of Louisiana -- a traditionally red state -- didn't tune in either because they're still without power after Hurricane Gustav.
