Shock! Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey Don't Share Same Brain

Powerful Black Women Endorse Different Candidates

By Published on .

I'm not going to call this story racist, but it sure seems that someone was surprised that two powerful black women can vote for different candidates and yet remain friends.

"Despite such admiration, when it comes to politics, clearly friends can agree to disagree. Both have made high-profile endorsements of Democratic candidates, but not to the same one: Ms. Winfrey supports Senator Barack Obama of Illinois; Ms. Angelou backs Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York."

By the way, in terms of impact on the election -- and poetry scholars might want to cover their eyes -- Oprah's endorsement is worth a lot more than Angelou's choice.
