Throw Another Billion Into the Pot

Bloomberg Run Would Up Ante

By Published on .

"New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg is prepared to spend an unprecedented $1 billion of his own $5.5 billion personal fortune for a third-party presidential campaign, personal friends of the mayor tell The Washington Times."

Be sure to take this news with a huge grain of salt. I lifted it from Drudge which lifted it (obviously) from the Washington Times, a pair that gets often gets frothy over "news" that has a tendency to quietly disappear.

But if true, that would push the marketing spending that much higher. More important -- and fun -- is the prospect of a third-party run and the ensuing media brouhaha that would entail.
