The all-type cover centers around an illustrated headline that reads "240 REASONS TO CELEBRATE AMERICA RIGHT NOW."
Time's list is likewise quirky but more traditional, and includes "Midnight Baseball" at No. 55, "The Radical Democracy of Our National Parks" at No. 4 and "Paul Simon's Favorite Swamp" at No. 85. Curiously, "Magazine Editors" appears nowhere on the list.
What's notable is that, even without "Magazine Editors," Time staffers were able to come up with 240 reasons -- whereas the obviously less patriotic editors of People magazine, Time Inc.'s sibling under the Time Inc. corporate umbrella, were only able to come up with "100 Reasons to Love America!," per its July 4th issue. Matthew McConaughey is on the cover. (Not kidding.) A caption next to McConaughey's face on the People cover reads "Matthew's No. 1!" (Still not kidding.)
Some of People's other reasons: "First Responders," "Amazon Prime," "Trader Joe's," "Transgender Orange Is the New Black Star Laverne Cox and Our Commitment to Equality" and "Chris Pratt's Instagram."
