Help Wanted: Obama Campaign Starts Beefing Up Digital Team
2008 Marketing MVPs Ready for Round Two
While social-media seemed to garner the bulk of the media coverage, innovations such as downloadable voter-registrations available on Facebook and, more important, a 13.5 million person email list were what chief accomplishments of the 2008 digital team. The influx of new voters and new energy resulted in some $500 million being raised online from 3 million donors, most in increments of less than $100 (and much of it spent on TV advertising); 35,000 groups organized through the website My Barack Obama.
And now the campaign is gearing up for a repeat. The following job posting was sent to members of the Medill School of Journalism listserv:

We're going to run the most effective, creative, and innovative digital campaign in the history of politics, and our digital team will be core to achieving the communications, fundraising and organizing goals of the cause.
We're hiring people at all levels, from team directors to junior staff. So whether you're a seasoned digital veteran or are new to the field but hoping to apply your skills to a worthy cause, we hope to hear from you.
We're especially looking for folks with skills and experience in the following areas:
DESIGN -- web design and user experience specialists, print designers, motion graphics producers and Flash designers (please submit your portfolio or link to your web site)
FILM/VIDEO -- producers, shooters, editors, motion graphics artists and distribution specialists
WRITING/EDITING -- we need talented, seasoned writers and editors to help tell the story of the campaign
DIRECT RESPONSE MARKETING -- through email, social and mobile platforms
DEVELOPERS/WEB PRODUCERS – web (front-end: HTML/CSS/Javascript /etc.) and mobile
DIGITAL ADVERTISING -- including ad buying, creative, tracking and optimization across search, display, social and mobile platforms
