Cannes Diary: Bob Jeffrey, JWT

By Published on .

6:30 a.m. Every year I stay at the Majestic. It's the most convenient place to stay. It's right across from the Palais and the perfect place to host meetings with both clients, the agency and the press. Woke up and was at the Fitlane Gym by 7 a.m.

9 a.m. Meeting with Michael Maedel, who runs JWT Asia. We met at my hotel this a.m. to catch up and talk about our plans for the week.

10 a.m. Meeting with David Eastman, worldwide digital director and CEO, JWT North America. David met me on the Terrace in my room to talk about our talent search. Hiring a creative partner for David in North America is priority number one.

11:30 a.m. Coffee with Gayle Troberman and David Eastman at Majestic Terrace.

1 p.m. Lunch on the Terrace in my room with my team to discuss the rest of the afternoon. I have a packed schedule tonight. It is a priority to spend time with as many clients as possible.

4 p.m. Microsoft CMO roundtable at Cannes, moderated by Michael Kassan

5:30 p.m. I went back to Majestic with Fernando Vega Olmos and David Eastman for the Kraft party with Spike Jonze, where I saw Dana Anderson among other Kraft clients. After that, at the Majestic, I ran into Howard Draft and his wife for a chat. Then had a drink with Toby Hoare, Guy Hayward and Russell Ramsey from JWT before the crew and I went off to pick up our Lions for Nestle Polo Mints, Heineken and Kleenex work.

7:30 p.m. Microsoft dinner with David Eastman.

10 p.m. Had a conference call with the New York office. Trying to retire to bed early tonight as tomorrow is a looongg day.

Bob Jeffrey is CEO of JWT.
