Amazon's latest e-reader, unveiled today, is the front-lit Kindle Paperwhite. Priced at $179 and $119 for Wi-Fi only, it's expected to compete with Barnes & Noble's Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight device. The Paperwhite, which will ship in October, is lightweight at 9.1 mm, boasts 25% more screen contrast than existing Kindle models and a sharper display, with 62% higher resolution. Other new features include "Time to Read", a tool which tracks how fast you read and estimates how much time it will take you to finish a chapter. Amazon gave TV viewers a sneak peek at the device, in a commercial (shown here) aired during Wednesday night's NFL season kickoff game between New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys.
