Breakthrough: America 2049

Published on .

Human rights organization Breakthrough is behind this Facebook-based game set in a 'divided America of the near future'. Players are sent on a mission to capture an alleged terrorist and are given tasks based on human rights issues such as sex trafficking, racism, religion, labor and immigration.

Celebrities including 24's Cherry Jones star and Lost's Harold Perrineau feature in the game, which takes place over 12 weeks. Events at cultural institutions across the country (including the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and the Lower East Side Tenement Museum in New York) will dovetail with the game, highlighting some of the issues it tackles.
