At the D8 Conference yesterday, Kno unveiled a digital textbook featuring two 14.1 inch display panels that unfold just like its analog sibling. Students can view material, take notes and highlight just as they would on a regular textbook, but the independent screens also allow for further multi-tasking: users can read a book on one panel while opening a browser or digital notebook or watching video on the other. The tablet weighs in at 5.5 pounds and features about six to eight hours of battery life.
The company plans to offer a beta version to students this fall and expects to have the Kno available for purchase to U.S. customers on its website by late fall. It has not disclosed the price but says the Kno will "pay for itself" when compared to buying traditional textbooks.
