Your kids (and maybe even you) can feel the magic of LeVar Burton's 'Reading Rainbow,' three years after the PBS show was canceled because of lack of funding.
An appcreated by RRKidz, a company co-founded by Burton and and television producer Mark Wolfe, is bringing the television show's content to the iPad -- a screen just as prevalent with so many kids today as the television was a few years ago. Hosted by Burton himself, the app gives you access to hundreds of children's books, as well as educational videos and field trips. It also includes segments from the classic television show, and lets kids explore different 'islands.'
$9.99 per month will buy you unlimited access to all the content, but the app itself is free to download. Hello nostalgia!
