Sun Valley Resort/Visit Sun Valley: Stone Skipping Robot

Published on .

You can skip stones on a mountain lake without leaving your desk with a new immersive site from Idaho's Sun Valley Resort/Visit Sun Valley that uses a specially built 'stone skimming robot' to recreate the experience. The experience, created by Eleven in San Francisco, lets users control the trajectory and power of their 'throw,' watch it skip in real time, post a video on Facebook and Twitter, and compare results on a leaderboard. To make this possible, Eleven engineered and built the robot ('Skippy') in-house, then drove it in an RV to the shores of a remote lake in Sun Valley, where satellite internet allows users to control it remotely. Users can take part from today through July 14, from 9am to 5pm daily, Mountain Daylight Time. He's part of a wider campaign for Visit Sun Valley and Sun Valley Resort, under the theme 'Skip Town and Come to Sun Valley'.
