Toyota: Toyota Friend

Got Twitter or Facebook withdrawl? If you miss being connected to your social networks while driving in the car, Toyota has the answer. It's launching Toyota Friend, a way for Toyota customers to receive Twitter-style messages about the car, and even communicate with friends and family via Facebook and Twitter while they drive.

Toyota Friend will send messages to drivers about maintenance issues and allow them to communicate with Toyota customer services and dealerships. Cloud computing technology from Toyota's partner Salesforce.com will allow the driver to link Toyota Friend with other social networks. The service will initially be available in Japan only, but Toyota says it will look at rolling it out to other countries.
