The Costa Rican team behind Tweetland say their starting point was 'what if things people say on Twitter became real?' So they developed a gaming concept that monitors real tweets and pulls them into the game experience. For example, in racing game Route 140, a tweet reading 'I've just seen a meteor!' from someone on Twitter will result in a meteor landing on the track. Another game in development, Love City, uses tweets about love or hate. Any 'hate' tweets load the player's gun, and they fight enemies generated by 'love' tweets.
The Tweetland team had sought funds via Kickstarter and recently surpassed its $7,000 goal. It plans to launch the games by mid 2011.
