Allstate has hired former MillerCoors marketer Gannon Jones as its senior VP for product marketing.
Mr. Jones will "lead the development and execution of integrated marketing efforts for Allstate across its lines of business (including auto, home and life) as well as against key consumer cohorts," an Allstate spokeswoman said in an email confirming the hire.
Mr. Jones was VP-brand marketing at MillerCoors from 2013 until November of 2015. Before that he was at PepsiCo where he served as CMO for the company's global nutrition group. At Allstate he will report to Sanjay Gupta, exec VP-marketing, innovation and corporate relations.
Mr. Jones' hire comes a year after the departure of Lisa Cochrane, whose title was senior VP-marketing at Allstate. Ms. Cochrane, who held broad authority over Allstate's marketing and advertising, retired on July 2 after a 15-year stint at the company.
An Allstate spokeswoman did not respond to multiple emails asking for clarity on how Mr. Jones' duties will differ from the responsibilities Ms. Cochrane held.
At MillerCoors, Mr. Jones was influential in picking TBWA/Chiat/Day as the agency for Miller Lite in late 2014. That relationship proved to be short-lived. MillerCoors in April moved the account to 180LA.
Allstate's longtime agency is Leo Burnett. The insurer in May rolled out a new campaign and updated its tagline to "It's good to be IN Good Hands." The new approach is aimed at modernizing the 85-year-old brand for a younger audience. TV spots feature celebrities including Tim Gunn, Adam DeVine and Leslie Jones. The marketer is concurrently running the six-year-old "Mayhem" campaign.
