Company Vet Succeeds Steve Cannon, Who Moved to U.S. CEO

Bernhard Glaser, a 20-year veteran of Mercedes-Benz in Germany and in the U.S., has been appointed VP-marketing for Mercedes-Benz U.S. by the man he replaces, CEO Steve Cannon.
"Bernie brings to this job an extensive amount of experience with the product, the brand, the culture, the dealers and our customers at a time when we are planning to take every aspect of our business to new levels in this market," Mr. Cannon said in a statement.
Mr. Glaser, 47, will oversee marketing communications, market research and product management of the Mercedes-Benz and Maybach brands in the states. Born in Germany, he began his career with Mercedes-Benz in that country, and first came to the U.S. in 1998 as department manager-coupes and convertibles.
Three years later, he returned to headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany as executive assistant to the member of the board responsible for worldwide sales and marketing of Mercedes-Benz, Maybach and Smart. In 2003, he returned to the U.S. operation as general manager-product management, which was his most recent post.
