Virgin America CMO Porter Gale to Leave in September

Four-Year Airline Vet Headed to Unnamed Startup

Virgin America's VP-marketing, Porter Gale, is leaving her position in mid-September to work at an unnamed startup, Ad Age has learned.

Ms. Porter joined Virgin America in October 2007 and manages the brand and online marketing, in-flight content and loyalty teams. Prior to that , she was a consultant whose clients included Country Music Television, Blue Shield of California and Delta Dental. She has also been general manager at the San Francisco office of the Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners and has produced or directed documentary films that have aired on outlets including Lifetime and PBS, according to Virgin's website.

Ms. Porter had no comment about her impending exit. Her four-year tenure was characterized by a focus on digital media opportunities.

Virgin America confirmed her departure, and a spokesperson said that a search for her replacement is already underway and will be announced soon.
