Wieden + Kennedy New York has tapped Lora Schulson to lead content production, replacing Gary Krieg, who is leaving after 14 years at the agency.
The move comes as a surprise since Schulson, who most recently served as co-executive director of content production at Y&R, N.Y., originally was tapped by BBH New York last week to head integrated production. She was slated to begin at the Publicis-backed agency on January 23, reporting to CCO John Patroulis.
But history might explain the switch. Schulson had been senior producer at TBWA/Chiat/Day, New York where she had worked with Wieden + Kennedy New York ECDs Ian Reichenthal and Scott Vitrone on award-winning campaigns for Skittles, Combos, Starburst and others, before following them to Y&R New York and producing more memorable turns for clients like Land Rover, LG and VH1.
"We've had a long history with Lora and we count ourselves lucky to be able to work with her again," Vitrone said in a statement. With Krieg's departure, Wieden had some big shoes to fill. The longtime director of production is leaving to work on an independent production venture. Since 1998 he has overseen a range of celebrated work, for ESPN, Nike, Jordan--including the recent Melo Projection Experience, and the game-changing Beta7 campaign for Sega.
