Saatchi's new chief creative, Jay Benjamin, has appointed Christopher Kief into the new position of chief technology officer at the shop's New York office. Mr. Kief was most recently executive technology director at TBWA Worldwide, and chief technology officer at Pilot.is, TBWA's design and technology unit. He has spent time working as director of creative technology, innovation and interactivity at Saatchi L.A. and CP&B. He will partner with Mr. Benjamin and Chief Production Officer Tanya LeSieur.
DDB California has hired Jonathan Byrne as Creative Director. Byrne joins DDB from Venables Bell & Partners, where he spent a decade serving first as a creative and then as a Creative Director. During this time, he helped launch Audi in the U.S. as well as leading new business efforts for 76 and Reebok. Before moving to the west coast, he was with agencies in the Rockies including TDA Boulder. He has won numerous creative and effectiveness awards from national and international shows, including The One Show, the Effies, Communication Arts, the ADDYs, The Obies and others.
Seattle and Los Angeles-based agency Wongdoody has hired Dennis Lee as associate creative director. Lee will work out of the Los Angeles office, and will develop creative initiatives for clients including Scion, VIZIO and Epson, working closely with ECD Pam Fujimoto. Lee was previously Associate Creative Director at Ogilvy & Mather, Los Angeles, where he worked on accounts that included HTC, CISCO, AM/PM, Tabasco, South Park, Qualcomm and Nesquik. Prior to that he had a six-year tenure at Wongdoody.
Colle+McVoy has appointed Michael Atkinson as a group creative director. Atkinson has nearly 20 years of experience working on brands including Belvedere Vodka, Best Buy, Dairy Queen, Harley-Davidson, Ikea, Healthy Choice, Hostess, Hardee's, Medtronic and Ziploc. His work has been recognized multiple times by Cannes Lions and The One Show.
JWT Amsterdam has appointed David Navarro as head of design/interactive director and Agustín Soriano as strategy director. The pair, who are both from Spain, joins the agency's Creative Board. Navarro held the position of design director at Tribal DDB from 2011-2012 before he left to freelance and pursue independent interests. While at Tribal DDB, Navarro led work for Philips, Volkswagen, KLM, Adidas and Heineken. Soriano was previously founder and executive strategic planner at Valencia-based Rosebud.
