Gyro Dubai has hired Guilherme Rangel as executive creative director. Rangel brings with him over 15 years of industry experience. He began his career in Brazil at agencies such as Fischer America and TBWA/BR, before moving to Dubai to work with agencies such as Impact BBDO, Young & Rubicam and DraftFCB. He has worked with clients including LG, Emaar, Sony, Ford, Absolut Vodka, Emirates, Pepsi and Masterfoods. The Gyro network has 17 offices in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Scandinavian production house Bacon is to open a new digital and interactive division. It will be run by executive producer Stine Hein, who has formerly worked at AKQA and In2Media; Pelle Martin, a former creative director at B-Reel New York, and technical director Felix Nielsen, a former interactive developer at Sid Lee. Clients so far include Nokia, with a project for Naked Communications.

London VFX studio Absolute has hired colorist Matt Turner as head of its newly-established grading department. Turner most recently served as director of colour grading at Rushes in London, where he worked with clients including Mario Testino. Previously, he was in Los Angeles as senior colorist at Company3, working on projects including Superbowl spots for Bridgestone Tires, Coke Zero, Travelers Insurance and Kia. Prior to moving to the U.S., he worked at Framestore London, and spent nine years at The Mill in London. He has worked with directors including Daniel Kleinman, Peter Thwaites, Ringan Ledwidge, Fredrik Bond, Frank Budgen and Daniel Barber, on brands such as Guinness, Monster.Com, Nissan, Sony PlayStation and Vodafone.

Edit1, the full-service pre-visualization studio headed by new owner Michael Zimbard, has appointed animation director Todd Winter as creative director. Most recently animation director at Launch, the animatics division of postproduction house Charlex, the LA-native Winter began his animation career as a layout artist at Warner Bros Animation where he worked on 'Batman: The Animated Series', and the animation/live action mash-up 'Space Jam', directed by Joe Pytka.
