Goodby Silverstein & Partners has opened a new office in New York City, and appointed Christian Haas ECD and Partner. Haas joined the agency in 2006, and has worked on campaigns for clients including Sprint, eBay, HP and "Got Milk?" Before joining Goodby, he spent seven years at Organic, as VP/managing director in Sao Paulo, and headed the shop's creative department at its San Francisco headquarters. He is also the founder of Vizio, a Brazilian interactive agency that was later bought by Organic. Goodby also appointed Nancy Reyes managing director and associate partner. Reyes has been at Goodby for 10 years.
Bully Pictures added commercial director Javier Aguilera for representation in the U.S. Aguilera has worked for brands like Lexus, Virgin Mobile, Toyota and Volkswagen, and has his most recent work coming from Mexico and Canada. He has previously worked at Spy Films in Toronto, where he transitioned from music videos to commercials. He has also directed two short films.
Piccadilly Curtains (who prefers to remain "faceless") has joined Strange Beast for worldwide representation. Curtains, the alias of director Adam Parry, has done work that ranges from VFX to experiential interactive projects. He just launched a new spot for David Attenborough's Natural Curiosities, a new series for UKTV. Parry, who said he is interested in exploring different media in a statement, has led the in-house design department at Framestore, and spent two years as CD at Superfad. He also worked with Strange Beast sister company Passion Pictures.
Editor Barney Miller has joined the New York office of Whitehouse Post. He comes to the studio after two years at Hooligan, where he worked with agencies like Ogilvy, Saatchi, JWT and DDB. Before Hooligan, he ran his own editorial studio, called Company X Edit, for eight years.
Wanda Productions and Grouek Studio have come together to launch Wanda Digital, a new integration digital production studio in Paris. Helmed by Romain Altain Aldea, who is CEO of Grouek and will be managing director Wanda CEO Patrick Barbier, who will be advising director, Helene Segol, executive producer, Jean-Frederic Passot, creative director, and Yoann Gueny, creative technologist, the studio will employ more than 20 dedicated staff. It will integrate creatives, designers and web and digital producers to create what is being billed as a one-stop shop for all production needs.
Digital production and design studio Big Block has signed director/cinematographer Gavid Bowden for representation. Bowden, who most recently did commercial campaigns for brands including Toyota, Ford, and Chevy, has worked with agencies like Y&R, BBDO, Wieden & Kennedy and more. He is also known for his music videos for artists like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Silverchair and Butthole Surfers.
Dallas production company Directorz, and sister company Lucky Twenty One have added executive producer Scott Ballew and launched an office in Venice, Calif. The Los Angeles office will mark the company's second production home. Ballew has previously produced for Bandito Brothers and Imaginary Forces, for work for clients like Hot Wheels, Apple, BMW and Ford. He also spent time as a production coordinator at @radical.media and has worked on HBO's "Entourage."
Singapore brand design agency Blue Marlin has appointed Tim Arrowsmith as creative director. Arrowsmith has worked at the shop before, as creative director Asia at the agency's Bangkok studio five years ago, where he worked on products for clients like GSK, Nestle and Standard Chartered Bank.
