Sid Lee has launched its first US office in Austin, Texas. The agency, which already has branches in Amsterdam, Montreal, Toronto and Paris, is expected to work closely with Sid Lee client Dell. Jim Bailey (left) takes the role of managing director, Sid Lee USA and partner. Bailey recently served as president of Red Bull Canada and prior to that held marketing and sales positions with Reebok and Adidas Canada.

Alongside Bailey on the management team will be vice president, strategy Eric Alper (left), formerly head of strategy at Sid Lee Montreal and Sid Lee Toronto and co-author of the book Conversational Capital. George Giampuranis will be partner, creative director and global CD.The Austin team is expected to grow to 40 professionals within the next 12 months and is actively recruiting.

SWAY Studio founder and creative director Mark Glaser is one of the founders of Big Block, a new digital production and design studio based in Santa Monica, alongside business developer Scott Benson and executive producer Kenny Solomon (a founding partner of The Syndicate). Big Block will specialize in digital automotive content, VFX, design and finishing for feature films, television, web, gaming and mobile platforms.

Believe Media has appointed Michael McQuhae as executive producer. He will be based out of the company's LA office. McQuhae is a former executive producer for HSI and has worked on brands including Levi's, Ray Ban, Axe, Absolut and Old Navy.

Stockland Martel has signed lifestyle photographer Steven Lippman for representation. Lippman, who is based in Los Angeles, has worked on campaigns for Harley-Davidson, Verizon, Paul Mitchell, Coors Light, and Sony, and also directed TV commercials and viral campaigns.

McGarryBowen has appointed Jon Morgan as acd/integrated copywriter at its Chicago office. Morgan joins after several years as a copywriter in New York at R/GA, JWT and Publicis. He has also worked at Digitas and MTV Networks. His experience includes on and offline work for brands including Citibank, JetBlue, Johnson & Johnson, Nike, Kraft, Cadbury, Kimberly Clark, the Andy Awards and MTV Networks.
