B-Reel has hired Lins Karnes to head up its London office as executive producer/managing director, while executive producer Eva Mautino will relocate from the London to the Los Angeles B-Reel office. Karnes joins B-Reel after working in project management at Saint @RKCR/Y&R, Bartle Bogle Hegarty and Wunderman Interactive.
Mullen has appointed creative duo Cliff and Wendy Leicht as VPs, creative directors. The Leichts join Mullen from Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Boulder, where they were associate creative directors on the agency's Kraft Macaroni & Cheese account, working on campaigns including You know you love it and the social-media promotion Mac & Jinx, as well as Gap holiday work. They have also worked at McKinney, BBDO and Modernista!.
Mechanica, the Massachussetts-based agency, has hired Ted Jendrysik as creative director. He will work on a variety of accounts including working with new client Global Pari-Mutuel Solutions in creating and launching a global gaming platform. Jendrysik was previously creative director at Arnold, Boston, and prior to that SVP creative director at Mullen.
Production company Paydirt has merged with music video company Mighty8, bringing together their respective rosters of commercial and music video directors. Paydirt was founded by executive producers / partners Jonathon Ker and Jeremy Barrett, and Mighty8 by music video producer / partner Lanette Phillips (pictured, left) in 2009. Current projects include a Keshavarz-directed campaign for Coca Cola energy drink Burn, and a Lorenzo Fonda short film. The Director's Intuition.
Red Car has signed mixed-media animation director Crankbunny, the first directorial signing for the creative editorial company. Crankbunny (aka Norma Toraya) joins Red Car from Curious Pictures, where she was represented in the US for the past five years. Her work typically includes hand-drawn animation, painting, pixilation, stop motion, and live-action compositing. Additionally, Red Car has promoted Chris Bialkowski from senior designer to creative director and hired freelance animation producer Courtney Fransen as animation/VFX producer, both based in New York.
