TBWA/Chiat/Day Los Angeles has hired John Norman as chief creative officer, following Rob Schwartz's promotion to the new network role of global creative president, TBWA Worldwide. Norman joins TBWA in August from The Martin Agency, where he was chief creative officer and played a key role in winning assignments for Norwegian Cruise Line, ExxonMobil, Comcast, Kraft, Living Social, Nespresso and Walmart, including Walmart's digital account and first-ever One Show Gold Pencil. Prior to The Martin Agency, Norman was at Wieden+Kennedy, spending five years as executive creative director in its Amsterdam office where he worked with clients including Nike, Coca-Cola, Electronic Arts, Nokia, Heineken and Honda. Norman joined W+K in 2005 from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners where he was group creative director on Hewlett-Packard. Schwartz has held the top creative role in LA for the past five years. In his new role, he will focus on TBWA's global client accounts, including continued relationships with Nissan, Pepsi, GSK and Visa.

JWT has acquired Finland's largest digital marketing agency Activeark. The WPP-owned agency will take a majority share in Activeark, which will merge its staff of 80 with JWT Helsinki's staff of 30 to become Activeark JWT Oy. Markus Hakala, CEO at Activeark, becomes CEO of Activeark JWT Oy. Jean Gallen, managing director of JWT Helsinki will be chairman of the Board while the founder of Activeark, Robin Bade, will focus on the development and overall quality of the service offering. The Activeark operations in the UK and India will also assume the new name.
