Story has signed Chris and Kristen Barker, a husband and wife creative team known as The Barkers, for commercial advertising representation in the U.S. The Chicago-based duo has directed work for Microsoft, Kraft, Head & Shoulders, Google, United Airlines, Hewlett Packard and others, including branded content, commercial photography and original music. Recent projects include a web campaign for HP's TwoSmiles greeting card service via Design Kitchen, now Blast Radius. The pair also directed a web series for Iams and Saatchi & Saatchi, New York, centering on people who have adopted rescued pets.
French production company Wanda has signed Nathalie Canguilhem to its roster for commercial & music video representation. Canguilhem, who has already signed a series of fashion films with Nowness, has worked as artistic director on many projects with actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, including a Louis Vuitton project. She has also worked in styling for photographers such as Nich Knight, Juergen Teller and Jean-Baptiste Mondino before becoming art director for various record labels collaborating with artists such as Prince, Justice, Uffie x Pharrell and Metronomy.
Director Nick Jones has joined Recommended for exclusive U.S. spot representation. Jones' commercial credits include projects for AT&T, Agent Provocateur, Burger King, Citroen, Clearasil, Heineken, Ikea, Kia, Match.com, McDonalds, Mercedes, Mini, Polaroid, Sony, Sony Playstation, Subway and Walmart, among many others. He recently completed "Camel" for eHarmony (via Albion/UK). Jones began his career editing and directing music and long-form videos, before moving into TV, working with the likes of Martin Freeman and Ricky Gervais. His first commercial, "Irn Bru," was from The Leith Agency. Prior to joining Recomended, he was represented by Limey.
Chicago-based production and post house Optimus and New York-based Nice Shoes have entered into an alliance to form Nice Shoes at Optimus in Chicago and provide Optimus with a presence in New York. The partnership will be led by colorist Ron Sudul, who will be starting Sept. 15. Sudul has worked on a range of spots at Nice Shoes, for brands including AT&T, McDonald's, Givenchy, IBM, UPS, GE, Starbucks, Toyota, MTV, Food Network and Chase. He has also collaborated on numerous projects with Kanye West, M.I.A. and Beyoncé, having graded a number of videos from the singer's latest visual album.
Artist, director, designer, and illustrator Ash Thorp has joined bi-coastal production company Shilo for global representation. Thorp has worked as lead graphic designer for "Enderʼs Game" and "Total Recall" and has also contributed to the design direction and concepts for "Person of Interest," "Prometheus," "X-Men First Class," "The Amazing Spiderman 2," and other titles.
L.A.-based VFX studio Brewster Parsons has added senior producer Jason Cohon to its team. Cohon has worked as a producer for Asylum, Brand New School, Digital Domain, Mirada and Sway Studio, producing live-action and VFX-intensive feature, TV, commercial and experiential projects alongside directors such as Dante Ariola, Nicolai Fuglsig, Joseph Kosinski and Rupert Sanders.
