Leo Macias is returning to his native Colombia after 20 years in Brazil to take the new role of chief creative officer of DDB Colombia, based in Bogota. Macias will also be a member of the Creative Council of DDB Americas. In 1996, he moved to Sao Paulo, where he was an art director at Publicis for seven years, then a creative director at several agencies in Brazil. He joined Sao Paulo shop DM9 DDB two years ago as a group creative director, working on major clients including Johnson & Johnson Latin America and Itau Bank. Macias is also an artist, and he and his wife Thais Marin run an art gallery in their Sao Paulo apartment, with regular exhibitions by other artists, some of whom also work in the ad industry.
McCann HumanCare, the consumer health and wellness unit of McCann Health and McCann Worldgroup, has appointed Frank Mazzola to the new position of EVP, group creative director. He will report directly to Augé Reichenberg, EVP, executive creative director, McCann HumanCare. Mazzola joins McCann HumanCare from GSW where he served as EVP, group creative director. He began his career at FCB (now FCB Health.)
VML has hired one new executive creative director and two new group creative directors in Kansas City and Seattle. Derek Clark joins as a group creative director and copywriter, leading the integrated creative team on Gatorade. Clark has previous experience with multiple agencies including Cavalry, McGarryBowen and Leo Burnett. He will report to Tony Snethen, executive creative director for PepsiCo brands at VML Kansas City. Andy Clark joins as executive creative director, platforms and experiences. He brings 15 years of digital experience, including 11 years with R/GA. He is based in Kansas City, and will report to executive creative director John Godsey. Shane Alderton has rejoined VML West in Seattle as a group creative director. He came to VML from Wunderman, with prior experience at Y&R. He will be managing the creative team in Seattle as well as working with clients such as Ford, and reports to executive vice president of VML West Eric Baumgartner.
Marc USA has hired Andy Hall as creative director to work on its Payless ShoeSource account in the Chicago office. Hall comes from Grey New York, where he created TJ Maxx's "Maxx Life" campaign as well as the "Go Olive Garden" campaign. He has also worked with clients such as Calvin Klein, Mavi jeans, Ikea, RayBan, Procter & Gamble, Oreo, Godiva, Coke, WTA, MTV, Disney, Grey Goose and Absolut vodkas and more. His past agency experience also includes Sugartown Creative, TBWA/Chiat/Day and Deutsch.
