Newspaper journalists have grown accustomed to finding more creativity outside their walls -- and often of the "creative destruction" variety. But instead of seeking shelter inside, Guardian Editor Alan Rusbridger has embraced an "open journalism" approach, which aims to collaborate with outsiders. Gone is the model "where a newspaper employs six famous columnists who then preach to the world," he said. "The expertise on many subjects lies outside the newsroom, and if you can give people the platform, you will get something much more diverse and rich."
