Twenty-four-year-old fashion blogger Leandra Medine has taught girls all over the world how to repel men in the most fashion-forward way possible, with loads of layers and crotch-hugging jumpers. But her creative prowess goes beyond her fearless outfits and humorous prose.
Her blog is only three years old and gets about 4 million page views a month. She has been featured in top-tier glossies like Vogue and recently made a splash in the media on her own with a controversial response to Suzy Menkes’ op-ed slamming fashion bloggers. She’s inked a number of brand collaborations, such as sponsored posts with beauty and fashion brands. Her latest will be with Superga sneakers in August.
She said she realized she was creatively inclined when she composed a poetry book in fifth grade. “It was comprised of 20 poems I wrote modeled after famous poets we were learning about in school. My favorite was called ‘Good Doors Make Good Brothers’ modeled after Frost's ‘Good Fences Make Good Neighbors.’ (I also wrote the reviews in the back, which included false quotes from fake publications about my lyrical genius).”
Little did she know her lyrical genius would eventually coin widely used phrases like “man repelling” and “arm party.”
