Known for his dark and often mystifying style, director David Fincher has a knack for breaking convention when it comes to depicting the human experience. This year, the mind behind "The Social Network," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "Fight Club," earned praise for his big screen adaptation of Gillian Flynn's best-selling novel "Gone Girl" and delivered the second season of the Netflix political-thriller "House of Cards."
The Academy Award-nominated director also helmed the first installment in Gap's provocative "Dress Normal" campaign in collaboration with Wieden & Kennedy -- helping to give the spots a noir feel that was unexpected from the usually bright brand.
For his next project, Mr. Fincher is slated to direct the first season of HBO's "Utopia," an adaptation of a British thriller, which will be written by Ms. Flynn.
