Marc Newson, who has collaborated with brands including Ford Motor Co., Heineken, Nike and Qantas Airways to create unique products, is bringing his design vision to Apple. In September, the Australian industrial designer joined Apple as part of Senior VP-Design Jony Ive's team to collaborate on future product designs. Some of Mr. Newson's recent projects include "The Sub," a sophisticated home beer-dispenser system created in partnership with Krups; a custom Leica Digital Rangefinder camera designed in collaboration with Mr. Ive (which sold for $1.8 million at a Sotheby's auction to benefit AIDS relief in Africa); and a sleek 486 shotgun for Italian gun company Beretta. In his new gig at Apple -- which is part-time -- Mr. Newson remains based in the U.K. and travels frequently to company headquarters in Cupertino, Calif.
